Every country has a stereotype, and Poland is not different!
Here are some most popular stereotypes about Poland and Poles!
#Poles drink a lot.

True and not so true. From another major survey taken not too long ago, Poland ranked number 21 for the amount of consumed alcohol per person. This could help our point that Poles don’t drink that much. It is also worth mentioning that Slavic countries are more resistant to the alcohol consumption than other nations, that is why we can drink more!
However, there’s been a major cultural shift, especially noticeable with the younger people. They now mostly prefer light, craft beer more than vodka.
#Poles don’t smile.

This is something of an issue all over Eastern Europe. Stony-faced people never crack a smile no matter how adorable you think you are. In fact they’ll look at you being all smiley and think you’re ridiculous.
In many Slavic countries, smiling doesn’t mean hello. Smiling means laughter. If someone’s smiling at you, it means he’s laughing at you.
#Poles always complain.

This one is partly true, partly false. Poles like to be honest. So, when asked how they are doing, if they’re doing great they will let you know, but if they’re not, be prepared for a lengthy negative answer! Polish like to think of it not as complaining but telling you how it is.
#Poland is very cold all the time.

This is not true! Yes, it is cold in Poland during winter, the temperature goes below 0 and there is snow, however it is not like this all year around, as some would like to think! Poland gets the best of both worlds as the summer is very hot and beautiful.
#Poland is a very religious country.

This is true! More than 94% of citizens are identified as Roman Catholic. Around 54% of Poles attend religious services at least once a week. Although the number of people practicing religion has fallen, these people still identify themselves as Catholics due to the religion being a part of the Polish culture.
